Children Awarded Sponsorship

I’ve known Blessing since she was 3 years old and spent the entire afternoon sitting on my shoulders. From the day she attended our first Playback Theatre Event over 5 years ago, she’s been a consistent, highly active participant in our program.

She’s developing into a wonderful girl, who is brilliant, very witty, full of personality, charming, confident and so gregarious. We are so happy to be able to help support this young girl’s education.

This little girl has a very magnetic personality, is smart, very caring and discipline.  I met Grace when she attended one of our Reading Circles during my last trip to Liberia last November. She came by to participate in our daily reading lessons and was so excited when she entered our gate, she soon became one of our favorite students. Grace exemplifies a lot of the qualities we try to impart on our girls. With more guidance, structure and exposure to the world through our reading lessons, we’re highly optimistic about her future.

Bee was a bit reserved when she first started coming to our program. During one of my trips about three and a half years ago to Liberia, I met her when she came along with some of our girls who had been coming for the previous two years. She has consistently shown great work ethic, never complains, is always a team player and most recently, has become very more outspoken. Watching her development over the past few years has been a pleasure to observe.

I often walk around the community meeting children and visiting their parents to get a feel for the support they’re getting at home. On a number of occasions, I saw this little girl doing her home work while the rest of the kids were all playing. I took notice of her and she attended our Reading Circle and her reading was terrific.

During our bike rides she never complained when we had to switch to another riders ok with we had so many kids in line to ride. She has a terrific attitude, is brilliant, pretty selfless, a team player and has a wonderful smile.

We’re so happy we’re able to award her a sponsorship.

This young girl has been an active participant from the very beginning of our community outreach. She is full of energy, very enthusiastic, smart and very determine. Over the years, we’ve worked with hundreds of children in her community. Love always stands out and is an eager participant at many of our events we’ve hosted over the years.

We’re excited to be able to assist her with a sponsorship.

With the Read 2 Ride Program, we try to find the kids who are very hardworking, respectful, and selfless.

I met Linda when she was barely 3 years old, at one of our original reading programs. Linda is a really awesome kid. She walks into a room and literally lights it up. What really convinced me to give this young girl this sponsorship is, I took her for ice cream on my last trip to Liberia. It was just she and I and I bought her a cup of ice cream and Linda decided that she would bring it back to her house to share with the rest of the kids.

So this little 6 year old girl, has a cup of ice cream…..and decides to bring it home to share with the rest of the kids. I just found that so selfless and it told me, we were helping the right kid.

My father told me about this brilliant little girl before I even returned to Liberia. When I did return, I made sure I found her…..and she did not disappoint me.

She is very outspoken, confident, fearless and enjoys making jokes. I was so proud of this little 6 year old, who is now 11, when she was one of our star participants in our first Playback Theatre event that attracted over 600 children and parents.

Hard work, volunteerism and kindness to those the world ignores are some of the qualities we try to instill in our girls.

Our next recipient is a very brilliant girl, so charismatic with a smile and energy that’s so wonderful to be around. When we first met Philmena, she was almost three years old. Even at that early age, she could list the names of all of Liberia’s presidents from Joseph Roberts to Ellen Sirleaf.

She has a very bright future ahead of her and we’re delighted to be able to award her this sponsorship.
